The News, Talk, Sights and Sounds of the Warfleigh Neighborhood

We were scheduled to have the presentation of the slate and elections at this meeting, but it was proposed that we delay official elections until the November meeting and the attendees agreed with this motion. The goal is to establish our bylaws and structure in the next month prior to officially voting upon officers. Lynn Levy volunteered to draft the bylaws with assistance form Janet Levy. They will meet with WNA members interested in running for office or committee chair in the next few weeks to review the draft. The bylaws will then be presented at the November meeting for approval (or veto) by those attending.

In the interim it was agreed that Will Carlson will serve as temporary president, and Bridget Carson will serve as temporary secretary. Officially however all offices are open until the elections in November. If anyone is interested in running for office please contact Heather Lusk at LuskandLusk@sbcglobal.net. There are several offices with no one currently running (including crime watch chair), and there are some additional or changed offices that may be proposed once the bylaws are drafted. It has been suggested that the WNA meet less frequently than monthly, and perhaps follow the direction of the BRVA with quarterly community meetings.

In terms of objectives of the Warfleigh Neighborhood Association, we outlined three things:
1) Improve infrastructure. This includes sidewalk repair, central canal concerns, dealing with abandoned or unkempt properties, and generally things that can affect property values within the neighborhood.
2) Crime watch. In terms of prevention and education. This would also involve recruiting more block captains and neighborhood liaisons.
3) Increase a sense of community. A major part of this is getting people involved and interested in the neighborhood association.

If anyone has concerns with this objectives or would like to see something included, please contact Lynn Levy so that it can be part of the consideration for the bylaws at lslcomm@natashalombardy.com

Heather Lusk will contact the IMPD for tips about Halloween and will post that information to the website.

Speaking of the website, if anyone is interested in assisting with the future of the website please contact Heather Lusk at LuskandLusk@sbcglobal.net. we'll be meeting in a few weeks to discuss it.

Our next meeting will be held November 1 at Trinity Church at 5 pm. (The Colts game is at 1 pm)
